As part of our ongoing Richmond Project, this evening’s youth Iftar was a beautiful reminder that Ramadan is about much more than just breaking fast — it’s about coming together, sharing stories, and uplifting one another.
Held in a warm and welcoming environment, the Iftar brought together a vibrant group of young people to connect over food, laughter, and meaningful conversations. While the delicious meal nourished our bodies, the sense of community and purpose nourished our spirits.
This particular session was focused on helping young people dream big and think boldly about their futures. After Iftar, we dove into an inspiring discussion on dream jobs and the many different pathways available to achieve them. Whether it was becoming a doctor, a lawyer, an artist or an entrepreneur, the room buzzed with ambition, curiosity, and encouragement. It was a safe and open space for sharing ideas, asking questions, and exploring what success looks like, and how to get there.
One of the young participants shared:
“Tonight made me feel really seen. I’ve never had a space where I could talk about my goals so openly, and it was so cool to hear from others who have the same dreams as me.”
Of course, no evening is complete without some fun and we ended ours with dancing, games, and plenty of laughter. The energy was electric and the smiles on everyone’s faces said it all!
Let’s continue building community, celebrating identity, and empowering the next generation together.
